Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Green Compass is published by Stichting Le@f. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the app.
In short: Green Compass collects no data about you. There is no account, and we run no servers that store your data.
Your location
- Your location is used only on your device, and only after you give permission, to show places near you. Nothing is sent to us and nothing is stored by us.
- There is no location history. Close the app and the location is no longer used.
- You can turn location access off at any time: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Green Compass. The app keeps working — you can search for a city by name instead.
What stays on your device
- Your searches, filters and saved places are kept on your device only.
- Deleting the app deletes that data. Because nothing is stored on our side, there is nothing for us to delete on request.
What we do not collect
- No account, no name, no email address, no phone number.
- No advertising identifier and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No usage analytics, no device fingerprint, no crash reports containing personal data.
- No sale or sharing of personal data. There is no personal data to sell.
Maps and place information
- Place information comes from OpenStreetMap and other open sources.
- The map is drawn by the map service of your device (Apple Maps on iPhone and iPad). Like any map, that service needs your device's network address to fetch map tiles. That exchange is between your device and the map provider — it does not run through us. Apple's privacy terms apply to it.
- If you tap through to the website of a place, you leave Green Compass and that website's own privacy rules apply.
App Store privacy label
In the App Store, Green Compass is listed as “Data Not Collected”. That label is accurate: the app collects no data from you.
Children
Green Compass is not directed at children under 13, and collects no data from anyone — including children.
If this changes
If a later version of the app adds a feature that needs data — for example an optional account — we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version is released.
